Fall in the mountains
DSC00945

Fall is always so beautiful in Denver. Crisp cool nights, usually cool days, the trees turning yellow. I love this time of year! I leave tomorrow for Holland, and about 24 hours of total travel time. I'm all packed and ready to go. A bit nervous, I don't overly enjoy travelling on my own and really wish that Austin could join me but I suppose one of us needs to work :)

My next blog will be from across the pond! Tot ziens!

Bunk tv
So I watched two new tv shows this afternoon. The first was Grey's Anatomy, and it was actually my second episode I watched. I just can't get into it. There is so much hype surrounding the show, maybe you justhave to see it from season 1?

The other show I wateched was Ugly Betty on ABC. It's about this fugly girl who gets hired on at a high fashion magazine as an administrative assistant. It wasn't very good either. Think the Devil Wears Prada but not as funny.

I have started watching Desperate Housewives, and I am really enjoying that show lately.

I am tired
I am so tired today. I just could NOT sleep last night. I tossed and turned and went down and tried to sleep on the couch and couldn't sleep there either. I finally fell asleep around 3:45 am and woke up at 9:30 am. I have found that my afternoon naps are causing me not to be able to sleep at night, but someones it's just so nice to close the eyes around 4 pm and have a nap until Austin comes home from work.

So I'm tired today! I met a good friend of mine for lunch, she got a new puppy by the name of Pudge so I visited Pudge and we went to Chinese. I officially feel VERY bloated and am now watching the young and the restless that i tivo'd earlier today.

I can't believe that I leave on sunday for Holland! Wow. I need to start thinking about things to pack etc.

No cavities
I went to the dentist at 8 am this morning. I don't really like going to the dentist, and I don't like going at 8 am when I don't have to work, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of rescheduling so I just went. Amazing enough, I don't have ANY cavitites. My last check up 6 months ago revealed a costly 3 cavities so I was a bit worried about having to get another cleaning and how expensive it was going to be, but I guess I have done a bang up job of brushing and flossing and there were no cavities. YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I ran errands after, went to Costco and stocked up on some meat etc for the freezer. It's much less busy during the middle of the day when everyone else is working he he he.

Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut and highlighted again. It's about that time again. Tonight was are having steaks on the bbq and a twice baked potato. I scrapbooked a bit yesterday but I might continue it further today, I have a few cards I want to make.

One week from today
One week from today, at exactly this hour, I will be on my way to Holland! My flights are on Northwest/KLM from Denver to Detroit and then Detroit to AMS on the way out and then on the way back I travel from AMS to Minneapolis to Denver. I'm getting pretty excited, I haven't been back to Holland in 4 years and haven't seem a lot of the family that I will be seeing for awhile.

I am staying for the first half of my trip in the northern part of Holland in a city called Gronigen. I'll be staying with my dad's side of the family. The second half I will travel to Dordrecht, which is where my favorite aunt lives and will spend the rest of the time with her. Hopefully i have good weather!

Weekend was fairly uneventful. We went down yesterday to go visit the newborn baby of good friends of ours. He was born 2 weeks ago. Baby is doing well and is gaining weight.

Austin is cooking fajitas on the grill right now (chicken) and plans to also grill the tortillas. I went to the farmers market and made some fresh salsa, and it is delish! ALthough a bit spicy...

Babies
So I have been babysitting a 9 month old for a friend of mine for the last 3 days. Their regular nanny had a family emergency and so they were in a real bind, and luckily I was able to step in. I was a bit nervous at first, but I settled in well and had a good time on wednesday. Thursday was a bit odd, becuase the dad worked from home and the mother in law was there for part of the day. Today should have been good, except Ethan wasn't feeling too well. I almost think he was teething, he woudln't go down for his first nap at all until two hours later, and his second nap I couldnt get him to settle down so he did not nap. Dad will have fun with him this afternoon.

There is a winter storm warning out in the mountains. No snow in Denver yet, but it's nice and chilly which is fabulous. I don't think we really have any plans this weekend either which is nice. We will probably go check on the house and see what progress they have made in the later part of this week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tuesday
Had a good day today. Slept in until 10:30!!! and then watched the Young and the Restless soap opera. I made some lunch, and then went off to get my allergy shot. While I was on my way, Austin called and said we had a showing scheduled between 4:30 and 6! This is exciting, we haven't had a showing in over 2 months now. SO got my shot, patiently waited 20 minutes after the shot, and rushed home to do a massive cleaning. Got the house spotless in time for 4:30, and then went to run some errands and stop by the new house.

They started pouring the concrete walls, so that was fun to watch. I went back to the house, and checked the door, which I had booby trapped with a little piece of paper to see if anyone had entered. They had not, so I stalked the house on the other side of the street and waited until someone showed up. And they did! How exciting. It'd be awesome if the house sold, it would make me feel a lot more comfortable about losing my job.

Tomorrow, I am babysitting for a 9 month old, and thursday as well. Should be fun, a test drive for being a parent. Except it's not my kid and I'm not pregnant yet. I hope things go well and Ethan doesn't scream all day long :)

Ta Ta for now!

Work out today
I finally went to the Rec Center with Christie and we went to an aqua aerobics class this evening. I had a lot of fun, although the class was really hard. The two other times I have been to aqua aerobics, I haven't been too challenged, but we ran against the lazy current river and boy I felt really good (although I complained DURING the workout). It was good. I plan to take a 9 am yoga class tomorrow morning.

I'm really excited about my trip to Holland. I'll be gone for 12 days, and I'm back for a day and then Austin and I head to Calgary for 4 days. I haven't seen some of the family I will be visiting for close to 5 years, so it will be really nice to catch up! It's going to be wierd being away from Austin for so long, he really is such a strong emotional support for me, and truely my best friend. He's been amazing through the whole job loss thing and unbelievably supportive. Boy am I glad he married me :)

Tonight we had a super healthy dinner, chicken on the grill, brocolli, and wild rice. I was starving by the time I got home, so I ate much more dinner than I usually do, but I hope it will curtail the snacking I always end up doing at night!

I'm going to babysit a 9 month old from someone I met on a message board I have been on for several years. Her nanny had a family emergency and she put the call out for help and I offered. I'm looking forward to it, hopefully the 9 month old takes to me or else it could be a long two days! And she plans to pay me too.

I'm going to Holland!!!
So, I just booked a 1 1/2 week trip to Holland to visit family. I'm SO excited. I leave in 2 weeks exactly. I can't wait!!! I'm sad that Austin can't come with, but one of us has to work lol.

Friday
I'm writing this while there is a HUGE thunderstorm passing through. Lots of rain, wind, and hail. The cats are all freaked out. I had a good day today, ran some errands for Austin and ironically enough for Nizar who needed a wedding gift purchased for one of his friends who is getting married. Tonight, we are going out to dinner and we were going to go to mini golf, but it's raining so much i'm not so sure we are going to go anymore.

One of our close friends gave birth last weekend, so we hope to go down tomorrow to visit the baby. I heart babies.

Two houses sold!!!
Yahoo, two out of the 4 houses in our association sold yesterday. Now there is only our unit for sale, and another unit that is larger and MUCH more expensive (priced way too high, it will never sell). This could indicate that the market is changing for the better, and that we have less competition. Finally, some good news.

I'm no longer employed, for reasons I cannot discuss here since I think that my former employer might be reading my blog. I'm angry that it turned out the way it did, but I'm pretty happy I don't have to work for that evil woman and this prooves that she had it out for me from day one. I don't want to work for a company that has questionable ethics anyways. Right now, I plan to take it easy, collect my thoughts, try to go visit family in Holland if I can manage to find some extra money, and just relax a bit.

I had a gift certificate from Nizar (Austins best friend) and got a facial yesterday. Heavenly. I have a massage today at 12:30, my neck has been really tense lately so I am looking forward to that.

On the weight loss front, I was down to 239 yesterday (from 241). I plan to start eating better since I'm at home, and go to the rec center to excersise and attend the classes they have. Tomorrow there was a class at 9 I plan to attend.

I miss a few of my close friends at work, but I hope I will continue to be in contact with them as I morph into the next phase of my life.

We have a hole!!!!
Digging
I went by the house today, and low and behold, we have a hole :) Wowza. Finally! Very exciting. I'm ready for them to pour the foundation, and just finish already! Realistically, we won't be able to move in until January but still.

I made spagetti tonight, it was yummy.

I shoudl have gone to work out tonight, but my neck has been really hurting today. I had a really stressful day at work and that always gives me a lot of neck tension. I tried to get in for a massage tonight, but I tried to make an appointment too late. I hope it feels better tomorrow.

I almost forgot! They began digging!
How could I almost have forgotten to blog this! They began digging! How exciting. The builder said that he expects the foundation to go in late next week (which...really means in 2 weeks from now).

How exciting!

Friday night
I deleted some posts related to work and some of my vents. I think one of the program directors might read my blog and I don't want anything to come back to bite me. He is aware of my feelings towards the temporary boss, however I just don't want to give anyone more ammunition to get rid of me.

We just got back from eating mexican, and my belly is officially full. We are watching the Dane Cook special on our new 50 inch widescreen plasma tv and enjoying it! This weekend, we have a few things planned. Tomorrow night we are headed to a party that one of the people at work is having, his annual harvest party. Should be fun.

I plan to bake some cookies of some kind to bring. Other than that, we don't have many plans.

And...since I'm still grumpy
We still don't have a hole that is dug. I drove by *VERY* excitedly today, hoping I would see some tractors and bulldozers. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Maybe tomorrow is the day. It's frustrating, becuase our builder totally told us they would start tuesday. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP!!!

Jeesh.

The house
I went by the house today at lunch to see if they had begun digging. No tractors, no digging. Sigh. I could have really used some tractors on the lot to make me LESS grumpy today.

But I guess this is fitting considering its grumpysnickles.com

Our sign is now up!
Our lot sign!

Yahoo, our sign is now up! How exciting! :) We have, as usual, gone out to the house each day to see what they have accomplished. On thursday, they put up each house's sign. On friday, they staked out each hole that they need to dig (ours is green, very fitting considering it is my favorite color!). They will begin digging on tuesday, and after that the builder says it is about 150 days until they are done. So realistically, we are looking at the beginning of January before it is complete (so I guess we won't have to move over Christmas). It is all very exciting, to us at least!

I'm enjoying the cooler weather outside. We sleep with the window open at night and it's SO nice and cool. The cats, however, do not like it and have become permanently attached to me now at night sleeping. Jones has begun his habig of crawling under the covers again and sleeps inbetween my legs, while George sleeps in the crook of my armpit all snuggled up. I sure do adore my cats.

We don't have many plans this weekend at all. We ran some errands today and saw an awful movie, Trust the Man. Truely awful. It had so much potential, but it was just awful. I don't think we have anything planned for tomorrow, so another fun day of rest, relaxation, and not much to do. On monday, we have a housewarming/bbq to go to at a friends house that moved into their house in APRIL and are now holding a housewarming. I wonder, do I have to bring a gift?
