two trick or treaters...
So far we've only had TWO trick or treaters :( and they were our neighbors kids. I sure hope we get some more...

Tuesday
Austin was up really early this morning, he couldn't sleep. Most mornings I just sleep through him getting ready but this morning I just couldn't get back to sleep. So I was up at 6:30 am, I'm forseeing a nap in my future. Jones is sitting on my feet (he is a great foot warmer, although a bit heavy at 17 pounds) and I should go and have a shower soon, I have some errands I want to run this morning.

We are all ready for halloween tonight, and hope we get more than one kid like we did last year! It's going to be cold tonight, so that won't help the turn out.

I had my 4th interview with "the company" yesterday. I observed the part time office manager doing invoicing and payroll for 2 hours. It was great, I loved every minute of it and time just flew by. She said as I was leaving that I should contact the president and let her know what I thought...which I did via email after I got home just after lunch. I thought I might hear something yesterday afternoon, but nothing. Maybe today...

I did notice that the canadian consulate in Denver is hiring, so I'm excited to apply for that position. That would be an ideal job for me. I love Canada so much, but I live in the US. My life is here now. Doesn't mean that I don't like Canada, my life is just HERE. And I really do enjoy living in Denver. It feels like home to me.

Jones as a Lobster
Jones as a Lobster
I was at Target yesterday and I found a dog costume I thought would look cute on the cats. Neither one of them liked it, however we we were able to get a good picture of it before he managed to get out of my arms and took the lobster hat off. So cute :)

Today Julie, Christie and I managed to get out and work out again. This time we took an aqua aerobics class. The instructor was terrible, and I wasn't challenged at all. Although, that might almost have been a good thing becuase my muscles are still sore today from working out yesterday.

Tonight we are having Austin's parents and sister over for dinner, as well as Nizar. We are all carving pumpkins after dinner. We have done this as a family ever since I have met Austin (so this will be the 5th year!) and I really enjoy it. I'm roasting a chicken, and having roasted cut potatoes, fresh tomato salad, and califlower. Yum :)

Tomorrow morning at 9:30 I have my 4th interview! I think I'm going to have to repeat one of my interview outfits...I'm running out of the professional super nice clothing! Hopefully they offer the job soon.

Stay tuned for pictures of the finished pumpkins :)

Working out
I actually set the alarm clock this morning (the first in a long time since I have been unemployed...I had to dust it off!) to go work out with Julie and Christie. We all went to body pump (which is a weight lifting class set to music and is very high energy and challenges me aerobically as well). Tomorrow we have plans to go to the water aerobics class in the morning. I enjoy having a work out buddy (or buddies in this case!) to go with, it makes it a lot more fun for me and keeps me motivated to keep going.

3rd interview went well, 4th interview has been scheduled...
So, i went on my third interview with the company I have been pursuing and it went well. I met with the part time office manager and we had a good 30 minute conversation. They want me to come in on monday for a 4th interview to observe the office and how things run. So hopefully 4th interview is a charm. I wish they could condense all of the interviews into one or two, but hey I've got nothing better to do :)

I'm about to run out to the store, our web cam broke earlier this week and so I'd like to get a new one and we need a new USB hub for the computer upstairs. I might also run to Costco, I would love to get some flowers for the house.

Snow in our front yard
Snow in our front yard
A pic of some of the snow from this morning. Most of the snow has melted (and is turning to ice tonight).

I have a third interview scheduled for tomorrow with that company. Hoping this will be the last and they will offer me the job :)

It's snowing!
It's snowing in Denver! It's SO beautiful. It's even more beautiful becuase I don't actually have to go out and drive in it :) he he

Jones is cuddled on top of my feet and keeping them warm. I turned on the electric heating pad and George is cuddled on the heating pad. We have lot power 6 times already today and it isn't even 11 am yet. The internet is out, but I managed to sneak onto our neighbor's cable wireless service (we have DSL and it craps out quite frequently).

I SHOULD go to the gym today, but I just don't see that happening unless it stops snowing. Once our internet comes back up I'll post a few pictures.

Guess what I dragged up from downstairs...
you'll NEVER guess. Ha. My bread maker :) When I was up in Calgary visiting my dear friend Jennifer (I wish we lived closer, it was SO much fun hanging out with her), we were chatting about bread machines. I have had one for about 5 years but lately (as in for probably the past 4 years) I haven't used it.

I decided to try it out by making some cinamon buns for Austin to bring to work tomorrow. Since I don't have a work of my own I can give goodies to, his work shall enjoy the feast. I hope they turn out.

I applied for a ton of jobs today. I meant to go to the gym, and had ALL intentions to go, but once it came time for the Body Pump class I planned to attend at 6:30 I decided to run to the grocery store to get some fruit. Tomorrow I have my eye on a yoga class I might attend.

They are framing the first floor of our new house! I'm sitting in our living room in this picture! :)

Meow Meow Monday
Happy Monday! While everyone is back to work, I'm relaxing at home. I'm really enjoying the time of I have had to due being unemployed against my will. I am really realizing how incredibly burnt out I was, and this time off has just been wonderful. That being said, I have a second interview for a company in Downtown Denver as an office manager. I feel pretty good about the job and what I'd be doing, so I hope it works out :)

Today I ran some errands just before lunch such as the post office and the bank, and exchanged some clothes at Lane Bryant that no longer fit becuase I have lost 15 pounds. I'm pretty proud of the fact I have lost 15, although I'm sure some people just think well you are fat enough you can lose WAY more weight than that. I'm trying to eat healthier and exercise more.

My parents left this morning for Puerto Vallarta (from Vancouver). They plan to live in the oceanfront house they just bought for the next 4 months. Wow! We plan to visit them over Christmas in Puerto Vallarta.

That's all for now!

Ow Ow Ow
Owwwwwwie, my body is SO sore today. I went back to an exercise class called Body Pump, which basically is a weight lifting class set to up beat music which creates an cardio work out as a result. I always have enjoyed it. But boy am I sore today. Even muscles I didn't even know I had are super sore. It's good though, I was glad I went on friday. I plan to make it a regular thing again. I used to go with Julie, but for some reason we got out of our routine with going each week. I'm hoping we will get back into the routine.

I got up at 6:30 this morning; I had an appointment to get my photo and fingerprints taken for my permanent green card application with the US Immigration and Naturalization Service. Unfortunately the office is in Aurora which is a good 45 minutes from where we are, so I had to leave by 7:15. It took all of 3 minutes, and I was on my way back home by 8:15. I'm pretty tired now.

Interview went well yesterday
So the interview went really well yesterday. I went in thinking it wasn't going to turn into much, but it turns out they have an office manager job within the company (they are a recruiting firm) and I am a good fit for the position. I have a follow up interview on tuesday. I'm excited and hope it turns into something!

Today I'm going to run some errands. George seemed to have lost his collar last week while I was in Holland so I need to go and get him a new one. We have looked all over, and it's probably somewhere in a pile of stuff when the cats were wrestling with each other that it came off. I also need to go get my allergy shot which is long overdue, and also get an oil change for my car.

Fun stuff :)

Approximate complete date on house
After going through the STACKS of mail I had and sorting through all of the junk mail, I found a letter from our builder giving us an estimate on when the house will be done. Right now, baring any delays, it looks like the house will be done around January 23rd! How exciting!

I just finished boiling some potatoes for tonight's dinner and am marinating some steak. Now I just have to decide on which veggie to pair with the meal.

I have an interview today at 11:30 with a recruiting firm. I'm not sure really what to expect from it, so who knows what will pan out.

I'm back!
Hey everyone, I'm back from my two trips to Holland and Canada! Whew. I came back from Holland last Wednesday after spending 10 days with family, and had a WONDERFUL time. Some of the family I had not seen in 6 years, so it was GREAT to catch up with everyone and see the wonderful sights and sounds of Holland. I also did a day trip to the German island of Borkum and also to the wonderful city of Antwerp Belgium.

Pictures can be found here.

Austin and I left on Friday to head up to Calgary for 4 days. A good friend of mine was getting married. We stayed with a close friend of mine for the weekend, and they were wonderful hosts and it was so nice to spend some time with her and her husband. We went to Ikea and I drooled over all of the fun things I could not bring back. Why can't Denver NOT have an Ikea for petes sake! We got back yesterday, and I went to bed pretty early. I managed to catch a cold during my second half of the trip to Holland, and I am finally starting to feel a bit better.

Other noteworthy news...I had an interview last Thursday with a company. I didn't feel it went particularly well, especially since I was jet lagged, and was feeling pretty crummy due to my cold. I received a call from them yesterday and they offered me the job, but for a salary that was much less than what they initially indicated the position would be. In addition, the position would be based in the Denver Tech Center for the next 3 to 4 months and would require a commute down there, which for me would entail about an hour in the car each way (about 40 miles) and I just wasn't interested in doing that. So I ended up declining the offer. I have started the job search now and hope that I can secure something soon.

In other news, the wood for our house has been delivered, and if the snow stops in the next few days (it is snowing today!!!) I am certain they will begin framing the first and second floors. How exciting.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Groetjes uit Dordrecht
Greetings from Dordrecht! I'm quickly approaching my last few days in Holland. We are going to Antwerp Belgium for the day tomorrow, which should be a lot of fun. Today we shopped a bit, I didn't buy much other than socks and some hand lotion that reminds me of my grandma who passed away 6 years ago.

My flight back to Denver is on wedneday, and we leave on friday for Calgary for 4 days to visit a close friend of mine. Looking forward to that.

Oh, and my biggest news is that I HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON THURSDAY!!! YAHOO. I had a telephone interview from Europe last week and it went well, so I am excited to go see them and see how things go. Wish me luck!

Greetings from Holland!
Groeten uit Nederland :) I'm now in Dordrecht, which is close to Rotterdam if you know anything about Holland. I spend the first 5 days up north in Gronigen with my dad's side of the family and stayed with my cousin Marije and her family. Had a fantastic time. Went to the German Island of Borkum and bicycled. Weather hasn't been great (lots of rain) but it's been wonderful to see and catch up with family.

I came to visit my favorite aunt yesterday. Today we are having a quiet day, we might go on a boat tour of the harbor later this afternoon, but otherwise just plan to take it easy. Tomorrow we are going to one of her friends in the morning to celebrate her birthday, and then shopping in the afternoon! On tuesday we are going for the day to one of my favorite cities, Antwerpen. YAHOO! Then I leave on wednesday to go back to Denver and see my dear husband and cats who I miss terribly.

Hope everyone has been well!
