Chocolate Chip Muffins

I had some leftover plain yogurt (read not sweetened or vanilla flavored) from when my mom was here to visit so i was looking on All Recipes to find a recipe. I came across this one for chocolate chip muffins and thought I'd give it a try this afternoon. It has 4 out of 5 reviews, I figured it had to be fairly decent. WRONG. They were awful. They were riddiculously heavy, had no flavor, and were just...not good in the slightest. Even my husband, who will eat pretty much anything, agreed that they were terrible and I threw them out.

And then I proceeded to make my old stand by, chewy oatmeal raisin cookies :)

Blech....

Blech, i don't feel great. A bug seems to be going around work and I think I might be catching it. From what I've heard, it gets worse than what i already have and it isn't pretty. Sigh.

It was a beautiful day though, nice and chilly in Denver. I absolutely love chilly weather, wearing nice long shirts makes me feel all snuggly and...comforted. Fall is so beautiful. I wish it was like this all year round. We even had some rain which is always nice.

My mom left on wednesday and we had a nice visit. They are thinking of coming to Denver for Christmas to spend in our new house, so that should be fun. I hope they make it up. They are spending the winter in Puerto Vallarta again and leaving Vancouver Island in November and not returning until April. Retired life is good!

Rasberry Triffle

Austin's parents came over Sunday night for dinner. We feasted on ribs, mashed taters, eggplant on the bbq and other delicious goodies. For dinner I made a raspberry trifle made from this recipe. This was my first time making trifle, and it was ok but i probably would try a different recipe next time. It was too rich for my liking. I changed the recipe by omitting the chocolate, and added fresh berries for the top of it.

Trifle also doesn't hold up very well the next day.

Yesterday we went up Guanella Pass between Grant and Georgetown to see some of the fall colors. Very pretty, but some of the leaves hadn't changed yet. The road left something to be desired in terms of smoothness (it was very poorly maintained and gravel road for 12 of the miles of the road). Would I recomend it? It was ok...I think I prefer going up to Estes Park for fall colors like we have done in previous years. Last year we went to Golden Gate State Park just outside of Golden and that was a nice drive.

My mom leaves tomorrow and I'm back to work tomorrow. It's been a good break for me, I'm somewhat ready to go back, I missed doing a lot of the tasks I do (and I didn't miss other things of course).

A re-cap of Broomfield Day...

Broomfield Day was...ok, not great. There were a lot more booths it seems, but it was all people selling stuff and not really local Broomfield people which is what I would have liked to see. Would I recomend it to others? Well...I'm niether here nor there. If you have nothing better to do, sure it's not that bad. I wouldn't make a day of it though.

Tonight we are having Ausitns parents over for dinner and making ribs for dinner. Yum!

Entree Vous

I had an anonomous post a few days ago asking for my opinion on Entree Vous...the person did not leave their contact info...so I thought I'd post here...

I'd love to hear what you thought about the food taste/quality from Entree Vous. I'm thinking about opening a prepared meal franchise in my area and are investigating all the different ones out there. Did you find their menus and entree to be fresher and more tasty?

I liked the food taste and quality from Entree Vous very much (much more so than Supper Solutions which was the other meal prep place I have visited in the past). They seemed to use fresher ingredients that were not frozen and put a bit more thought into their entree selections. That being said, one of the entrees I made was an orange chicken and neither my husband nor I really cared for it. But the other dishes were fantastic and I would definately go back.

New Ipod

My dear husband bought me a present yesterday, a new IPOD nano. I have an old green one, but it's old and he bought himself an IPOD Touch so he thought it was time to upgrade his wife to!

Very exciting. I love it so far. Although I loved my old IPOD too...Ipods are just great.
