First Spanish lesson
Austin and I had our first spanish lesson tonight. I was amazed at how much Austin remembered from high school and college which was a good 10 years ago. I have always had a knack for picking up languages (dutch, french and german) and I figured that I'd have no problems with spanish. I think i'll get there, but it certainly was a different experience having to translate in my head. I'm so used to actually thinking in dutch or french that it was causing me some difficulty. It was fun though, so I'm looking forward to next week. And it's nice that Austin and I are doing this together so we can practice. Mission this week is to learn/memorize days of the week, numbers, the basics. I suck at memory, so I'm just going to have to keep practicing over and over and over

I'd love to be able to speak a bunch of languages. I took French in school and university ... but it didn't stay with me :(

I think it will really help for you two to learn together and speak it to each other. It's very difficult to remember a language when you have no one to speak it to.

When I was in high school my dad used to joke that he was going to send me to Mexico to be a nanny for a summer so I'd use, and remember, all the Spanish I was taking in school.
