Flip flops
I alternate on weekends and anytime I'm NOT at work between flip flops and birkenstocks. This morning I had gone outside and put on my flip flops. I made a mental note to make sure to change before I left for work. In order to get to my car I have to dodge a very large pile of my shoes in the garage. Unfortunately, I realized 1 mile from work (I only work 5 miles from work) that I still had my flop flops on. I had to turn back around. Bummer

Tomorrow is Canada Day. We are having a pot luck at work to celebrate the holiday. I am bringing Canadian Butter Tarts and Nanaimo Bars. Yumm!

I'm a baking fool!
I've got banana bread in the oven, nanaimo bars chilling in the oven, and about to make butter tarts.

It's Canada Day on tuesday and my co-workers are having a pot luck in honor of Canada, which is so sweet! Nanaimo bars are a bar cookie that has a vanilla custard on top of a chocolate graham crust, and they are delish! Butter tarts are well, just simply delish! And the banana bread is to use up bananas that were going bad.

I love baking!

Table
Austin and I were at Costco this afternoon and I saw a dining room set (more like a dining room table and 8 chairs) that I absolutely fell in love with. I would have bought it then and there if a) I had the money b) we had a car (we were driving the Mini Cooper that day so not a whole lot of room) and c) Austin liked it. He didn't dislike it, he just didn't feel like paying $1,000 that we don't have on a dining room set. I've wanted a new table and chairs since we moved into the new house. It was SO nice, I loved everything about it. And the price was really reasonable for what you got. Good quality too.

It's a pity, because Costco tends to not get too many furniture items in and when they do you have to grab it or its gone. So saving $1,000 overnight is less than likely, especially when we are trying to save money for our trip to Holland in September. It doesn't help matters that we've had some unexpected medical expenses that our stupid medical insurance won't cover and I had to just shell out a bunch for new contacts. I sure could use a raise at my job, which is pretty unlikley.

Or...just win the lottery.

Holland here we come!
We booked our trip to Holland for September for a big family reunion and vacation. I'm SO excited I can hardly stand it. It will be the first time Austin has gone to Holland, and he'll get to meet my entire extended family (which is pretty small for extended family but they all are SO awesome and I can't wait for them to meet him). We are going for 10 days in total.

Yiiiiiiiiiiiippppeeeeeeeeee.

My car...
So this morning when i went to start my car to go to work, my car wouldn't start. So I drove the mini cooper and dropped Austin at the bus stop right next to my work and worried about my car the entire day. We got home, he took out the battery and we took it to get tested. It didn't hold a charge anymore, so we had to buy a new battery. Austin just finished installing it and it works great now.

Whew.

A basket of cats

Our cats are the best of friends. The play together, they eat together, they drink together, they poop together, and they sleep together. We have 4 bird feeders outside our dining room window and I put a basket on the table so they could sleep and view...and this is how we find the cats quite frequently. Tired, cuddling, and all tangled up together. They sure do love each other.

Happy Fathers Day
Happy Fathers Day to all the dad's out there. Jones and George gave daddy a nice card, although I had to help them sign it.

Otherwise, not much going on. I've been feeling a bit under the weather the past few days, and don't have much to blog about, or rather don't really want to get it into here on the ole blog.

RIP little birdie
We have 3 bird feeders hanging outside our dining room table. Today when I was re-filling the food, I noticed we had a dead bird. I summoned Austin and we dug a whole and burried him. RIP little birdie. Last year we had a bunny that died in our basement window wells, it was a baby bunny that fell through the grates that were supposed to stop animals from falling in (but apparently not baby bunnies who are too small). Anyways, I am guessing they are burried pretty close to each other. Hopefully this is the only casualty.

BTW, we do have tinted windows to cut down on heat as well as privacy, they appear mirrored from the outside so it also helps cut down on birds flying into a window which is nice.

Sending Kudos to my Husband
I wanted to send out BIG kudos and congratulations to my husband, who in one week lost 5.2 pounds!!! Nice Job! I'm super impressed, and jealous too sweet pea!

Accupuncture

I had my first accupuncture session today at 4 pm. I was nervous and excited at the same time, because I have heard nothing but great things about it. We discussed some of my issues, and talked a bit about my eating habits and what have you. She gave me some suggestions on things to eat to help me meet some of my goals, and then she had me lay on her super comfy bed in her office and then proceeded to insert about 15 needles into several parts of me, including my scalp, ears, arms, belly, feet, and shins. It was shockingly comfortable, and you rest with the needles in you for 1/2 an hour with soothing music and then she takes the out. It was...in one word...amazing. I really enjoyed my experience so much so that I booked another appointment for next tuesday. It wasn't cheap, $125 for today's initial session and then $75 for follow up sessions (which, of course, are NOT covered by my stupid health insurance) but I feel great and relaxed and that's worth paying money for.

ticker
I need a new ticker for my blog, since we obviously have gone and come back from Mexico. I just have nothing to really count down to. We are planning to go to Holland in September to visit my family which I am excited about, we just haven't decided on a date yet. Ticket prices are insanely expensive right now. I just dont understand. 2 years ago it cost $700 to fly in September to Amsterdam, and now it is costing $1300. WTH. Craziness. So once we get those dates settled I can put that in as my ticker!

Other than that, we have absolutely nothing new to tick about. And I wish there was something I could ticker, but can't.

tiiiiiired!
I am so tired. I went to bed REALLY late last night, for no reason really. I was reading and just kept reading and reading and reading. I'm paying for it today. And work is just non stop crazy stupid busy to the point where I just hate it. No one can do anything, because we are so busy and keep getting interrupted, and everyone is stressed. We are still down one employee, and going into the busiest time of the year so I don't see any relief anytime soon. I wish we had overtime again, becuase even though I got burnt out, I got some stuff done and I got paid time and a half.

I'm trying out acupuncture tomorrow afternoon. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about it so I'm excited to give it a whirl. I'm not excited about getting needles shoved in me, but I figure I get allergy shots every 3 weeks it can't be worse than that and the shots aren't that bad. So we'll see.

I went for a walk this evening, and it was still pretty warm out so I didn't go as far as I had hoped to. The heat just wears me out.

George has been staring out the windows all evening, we have several bunnies and tons of birds so he is enjoying watching them all. He desperately wishes he could snag one, but it'll never happen!

SATC
We saw Sex & The City last night with Jason & Julie. We were surrounded by wannabee gaggles of girls who had to have spent hours getting ready for the movie. We went to an adult theater, which has nice plush leather seats and serves food and has free popcorn and soda (well not free, it's just included in the admission price). I enjoyed the first half of the movie, but the second half really dragged (drug?) for me. It wasn't awful by any means, I just wanted more I guess.
