Ew ew ew....and a trip to Estes...
We just had to take the dishwasher apart...for the seventh time since we've had the house. Apparently our rock star dishwasher isn't such a rockstar after all and has a MAJOR design flaw in the fact that it lets things like onion skins through the drain and then clogs it up to the point where it won't drain. Such a pain. Austin just took it all apart, whilst I was spent most of the time trying to mop up the gross stinky garbage dirty dishes water. Ew Ew Ew.

We've both showered but still don't feel very clean. I also had to mop the floor. Good thing we have tomorrow off.

On another note we went up to Estes Park today just for the fun of it. Hadn't been there in a few years. It was riddiculously busy and apparently this long weekend is the busiest long weekend ever. We had lunch, and then went up the Tram to do some sight seeing from up high and fed the chipmunks some peanuts.

Blogging from the airport...
Can I just say how much I absolutely LOVE the free internet one gets at Denver International Airport? It's a fairly quick connection and given my addition to the internet it is absolutely wonderful to be able to pass the time at the gate reading blogs and catching up on the news.

Now if only they would put free internet IN FLIGHT...i'd be all set!

Prints of Pride follow up
I should have explained what prints of pride was...

"Prints of Pride"
Here“s how the program works:

* Registration for tile imprinting will take place on The Orchard Town Center Web site, www.theorchardtowncenter.com, where parents and dog owners will select time slots that suit their schedules. Tile imprinting will take place Grand Opening weekend.
* Those who register on the Web site will bring their children and dogs to The Orchard Town Center on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, at designated times. Time slots will be confirmed via email. Ceramic tile professionals and volunteers will help the children and dogs make their mark
* The colorful tiles, to coordinate with the color scheme of the Center, will be glazed, fired and installed at the Center, where they will live on for posterity. An installation date will be announced after the tiles are complete.

Prints of Pride

George's print

I posted the pictures we took from prints of pride. This is George's paw print. His turned out a bit better, but we only got one good print of his. We managed to get two prints out of Jones but they are less deep. The clay was really cold and hard to press the cats' paws down (especially since they had no desire to cooperate).

Regardless, neat to have them forever in the apple slices at the new outdoor mall, or at least until they tear it down...

1 month 1 week 1 day
I also noticed on my travel ticker that we have 1 month, 1 week and 1 day until we leave for our trip to Holland!!! That's pretty exciting. I am really looking forward to the trip...a lot! I wish I could take my cats with us though. They don't really enjoy traveling too much.

Feeling grown up....
Austin and I had a wonderful day today. At first we were thinking of driving into the mountains and going up to Estes, but I wasn't feeling well and relaxed in bed with the cats. We went and saw the "Prints of Pride" exhibit at the new mall in Westminster. They unveiled it today, and we managed to find the paw prints we had done of Jones and George, as well as a friend's dog. I'll post pictures later. We then went to Austin's work downtown to pick up something he had left there (and spent a good hour in traffic due to an accident on a drive that should have taken 15 minutes). After that, we ventured into the Highlands area of Denver. We bought some cupcakes (yum!!!), had lunch and then ventured our way to a tea shop, a cheese store, and then a wine store. We purchased some cheese, and then decided it might be nice to enjoy the cheese with a nice glass of wine. Good idea, except neither one of us really drink. We ended up asking the shop owner what to get and he suggested a red wine from Australia called "The Mutts Nuts". We bought it, walked out, and thought to ourselves I'll bet that guy is laughing his head off telling people he finally sold the Mutts Nuts to a a bunch of suckers. But...it turned out to be pretty tasty and we are sipping our wine, eating our cheese, and enjoying our frou frou'ness.

And of course VERY grown up at 31 and 33 years of age!!!

Got the email....
I have been waitlisted for the Obama speech. What a load of crap. My understanding was that tickets were going to be distributed on a first come first serve basis and I signed up right when we were notified, well before over 80,000 signed up for tickets (there are 70,000 tickets available).

So sad...

Democratic Convention
I signed up last week to try to get 2 tickets to hear Obama's Democratic Convention Accceptance speech at the national convention. I've been waiting to hear if we got 2 tickets or not, and I've heard that people are FINALLY starting to be notified that they did (or did not) get tickets.

So far I have not heard (either way...)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

My little cupcake

I LOVE baking. Absolutely love it. Luckily with the medication I have been on in the past month or so, i have little desire to EAT any of my baking. Actually, for the most part I tend to not eat so much of my own baking, but I more so enjoy the task of baking and basking in the glory of the compliments I get from others.

I signed up for my very first Wilton class called My Little Cupcake. This class teaches fondant and buttercream basics to make those pretty little filled cupcakes you see in bakeries! No previous cake decorating experience needed. These cupcakes would be great for baby/bridal showers, and the techniques you learn can easily be applied to other cupcake projects.

I'm excited!

I went in today for a haircut. I got a hair cut about 4 weeks ago, and it was good for a couple weeks but began to look crappy. So I went out again today and chopped off a good 4 inches. I love it! It's back to a cute bob. The back is REALLY short, and cute.

I'm going in for a color next week, and right now i'm thinking of going dark brown, a deep brunette color with some highlights. It's time for a change.

A letter from the President of 9NEWS regarding the Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies broadcast
A letter from the President of 9NEWS regarding the Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies broadcast

We deeply regret the technical difficulties that caused an interruption to the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics.

The feed of the Opening Ceremonies was a live feed of the taped event. We rely on a digital satellite feed to broadcast these games. Unfortunately we had very heavy rain and lightning as a storm passed directly over the station's studio facility. The rain was so heavy that it caused interference with our primary digital satellite feed, which is not unusual.

For that reason we have a backup satellite path that uses a different technology and is less susceptible to rain fade. Unfortunately, when we initially switched to it there was no audio. That is regrettable. That problem was corrected within 11 minutes. We continued to monitor the signal from our primary feed and decided until we were satisfied we could provide a reliable HD Feed we would stay with our backup to maintain the integrity of the broadcast.

This is very unfortunate and we regret the inconvenience this has caused our viewers. Mother Nature threw us a curve and there wasn't much we could do except to wait it out. We restored our primary HD Feed 64 minutes after we lost it. There were no other issues after the storm passed.

Our operations department did all they could to remedy this problem so that our viewers could see this incredible event. Our viewers' are our priority and we apologize for letting you down. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What a load of crap...
Come on NBC.

There is a news alert on the 9news website. Granted, I live in Broomfield and probably 20 miles from Lookout Mountain which I assume is where they broadcast. It's not raining here, but how HARD is it really raining to screw up the sound for 35 minutes now? It's the fricken Olympics man...get your stuff together NBC.

Due to the heavy rain in Denver, 9NEWS is having technical difficultes with the feed from NBC for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. The Opening Ceremonies will be re-broadcast on NBC starting at 1:30 a.m. after Conan O'Brien

2008 Summer Olympics

I am watching the 2008 Opening Olympic Ceremonies. Or at least attempting to. NBC apparently is having some problems because the sound keeps going in and out, and the picture goes black. At first I was worried it's our tv...but other channels were fine. It's actually pretty shitty becuase it happened during the Chinese National Anthem and I absolutely LOVE anthems, particularily the Canadian Anthem of course. But really, all anthems. I'm not really sure why that is.

So I hope things go better. I wonder if it's a Direct TV thing, or a NBC thing. All I know is they had better get it fixed.

I enjoy the Olympics, although I enjoy it more in Canada, becuase I get to hear more about the Canadian athletes which is always fun. The US Coverage really only focuses on the American athletes, and the top athletes. I tend to spend my time on www.cbc.ca to get my Canadian athlete fix.

Go Canada :)

The cats have replaced my husband - sitting in his spot on the couch and even on his blanket.
luckily Austin does come back on saturday

Cinnamon Buns
I am making Cinnamon Buns to bring to work tomorrow. It's a fairly labor intensive project, but they taste soooooo good. Things have been pretty stressful lately at work so I hope that some eeeewy goeeeey cinnamon buns will help ease the stress slightly.

We had HUGE storms in northern Colorado last night. No fun. I hate being home alone during storms. The cats weren't happy either, Jones spent most of the night under the bed...he's scared of the thunder. George wasn't sure what was going on and he normally spends the evening snuggling on my lap but last night he wanted no part of that and just spent the evening pacing in the house.

They are forecasting storms for tonight too.

Democratic Convention
The Democratic Convention will be taking place in Denver this year, which is pretty exciting. They opened up tickets to hear Obama's speech as he accept's the party's nomination. I signed up to be in the drawing to get 2 tickets, because it would be pretty surreal to be there when he accepts the nomination. But it's a pretty long shot unfortunately.

I am now uncomfortably full and plan to go to bed shortly, at 8 pm.

It's still hot...
It's still stupid hot in Denver. Hate it. The heat is killing my brain cells.

Austin is leaving today for a week of training in San Jose. I'm going to miss him tons but he should enjoy his training and his "paid week" of travel. And not only that, but it should be significantly cooler out there.

Julie and I are going for pedicures and the melting pot today. I have a big software release I have to begin testing starting today after I drop Austin off at the Airport at 10, so i'll have plenty to do to keep myself occupied. The cats will just wonder why I'm talking to them a bit more than usual.
